What is Sexual Dysfunction or Sexual Problem?

Sexual dysfunction is a problem that occurs at a time of the sexual response cycle. It prevents one from getting pleasure from sexual activity. Sexual dysfunction can affect people of any age, but is usually common in people over 40 because it is often associated with a decline in health that comes with aging.

Treatments for various sexual problems

Treatment for Premature Ejaculation

This is a common sexual problem faced by men. Oral medications like antidepressants, analgesics and phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors are used to treat premature ejaculation, however, it is to note that the Food and Drug Administration has not specifically approved any of these drugs for treating premature ejaculation.

Topical anesthetics are numbing creams and sprays containing benzocaine, lidocaine, or prilocaine which are often suggested to treat premature ejaculation. As far as counselling goes, talking to a professional help to reduce your performance anxiety and find better ways to cope with the stress.

Treatment for Loss of Libido

Now this is a problem which is faced by both men and women. There is a certain time in life when they usually experience this. Depending on the cause, there are a few choices of treatment like healthier lifestyle choices (good diet, regular exercising, enough sleep, less alcohol consumption, etc.) help a lot to treat low libido levels.

Besides that, doctors might suggest change in medications, if the one you’re taking is ineffective. Counseling, once again can help the couple to understand things better. This helps to break the barriers and helps in increasing libido levels.

Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction

This is another very common sexual problem faced by men. After the examinations, the doctor decide the form of treatment. Firstly, there is oral medications like Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadalafil (Adcirca, Cialis), Vardenafil (Levitra, Staxyn), Avanafil (Stendra).

Secondly, penis pumps (pumps over the penis to create vaccum that pulls blood there), implants and surgeries (surgically placing inflatable and malleable devices) can be used, if medications are not effective.

Psychological counselling is an effective way to treat erectile dysfunction, if it is caused by stress or anxiety.
